Living in Bloom | The Beauty of Anticipation ... September 15, 2026 - Bloomfields

Dear BFFs,

There is a particular beauty to this time of year.

Summer hasn’t quite left us, and autumn hasn’t fully arrived.

The mornings are cooler. The light is softer. Hydrangeas begin to fade, grasses turn golden, seed heads appear, and dahlias seem to know this is their moment.

I love this in-between season.

There’s a temptation to rush ahead — to the next season, the next project, the finished room. But lately, I’ve been thinking about how much beauty there is in anticipation itself.

In watching something slowly take shape.

This week, that feeling is everywhere at Bloomfields.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our shops, welcoming new merchandise as it arrives, bringing in flowers, foliage, and seasonal accents from the farm, and preparing five distinct floral stories for the Glebe House Tour.

At the same time, our design tables are full with four weddings taking shape for the weekend—each one completely its own.

There are branches waiting in buckets. Flowers being considered for just the right room. New objects finding their place on refreshed shelves. Bouquets and arrangements slowly coming together.

Little glimpses of what’s next.

Nothing is quite finished yet.

And perhaps that’s the beauty of it.

If you’re nearby, pop in and see the season taking shape. There’s something special about this in-between moment, when the shops are still evolving and every day looks a little different from the one before.

And this Saturday, September 19th, we’ll also be celebrating Taste of Wellington at our Wellington West shop.
Stop by our bloom table and choose a complimentary flower to take home—a small gesture of beauty to mark the day.

We’ll also be donating a percentage of Saturday’s sales to the Ottawa Food Bank, in support of neighbours across our community.

And then, next week, we’ll finally open the doors to Gather, our Fall Chapter—an exploration of home, seasonality, connection, and the beauty of living with less.

BFFs are invited to see it first on September 21st, before the official launch on the first day of autumn.
Until then, perhaps we can simply enjoy this moment between seasons—and the quiet pleasure of knowing something new is just around the corner.

Until next time, may you find beauty in the everyday.
With love, Virginia
