There’s something about September that makes me look at home differently.
Perhaps it’s the changing light, the cooler mornings, or simply knowing that before long, we’ll be spending more time indoors.
I begin what I think of asautumn nesting.
I notice the little things again. I move a chair. Clear a shelf. Bring in branches from the garden. Add something warm or textured. Light a candle a little earlier.
In some ways, autumn has always felt like a new year to me—a natural moment to reset, simplify, and make home feel good for the season ahead.
September reminds me that home is never really finished. It changes with us, with the season, and with the way we want to live.
Our shops are going through much the same process. We’re editing, refreshing, rearranging, and making space for our Fall Chapter—approaching the shops much as I do my own home at this time of year. A little less. A little warmer. More thoughtful. More intentional.
Slowly, the energy begins to change.
Perhaps that’s also why theGlebe House Tourhas always felt so perfectly timed.
For more than 20 years, Bloomfields has been grateful to take part in this much-loved community tradition. I also have the pleasure of serving on the House Tour committee, which makes seeing it all come together especially meaningful.
Once again, Glebe residents will generously open their doors in support of GNAG’s subsidy program, helping children with special needs participate in programs and activities.
This year, Bloomfields will create flowers for five of the homes—five distinct designs, each drawing inspiration from the architecture, character, and personality within.
It’s one of my favourite design challenges: observing a home and creating flowers that feel as though they have always belonged there.
And while we’re thinking about home, we’re getting closer to sharing what we’ve been quietly creating at Bloomfields.
Our Fall Chapter,Gather, launches September 22nd—an exploration of warmth, connection, natural beauty, and what it means to come home.
As a BFF, you’re invited to see it first on September 21st.
Here’s to opening the windows to the last of summer, bringing a few branches inside, and making a little room for what comes next.
Until next time, may you find beauty in the everyday.
